Until recently, I wasn't really one for frequent consultation with my guides. Oh sure, when I needed something, I knew how to ask. But something held me back. I thought I should be doing this stuff on my own, and that asking was a sign of weakness somehow. I even — dare I mention this? — ignored advice from my guides. Not just once or twice, but A LOT. I think we all do. On the Earth plane, in bodies, there's the perception that we're separate. We can't help that; it's just part of life as we perceive it. Nothing wrong with that. So the idea of giving up control to something unseen seems sort of alien to us. I always used to envy religious people who had a lot of faith, because, I reasoned, at least they believed that there was some higher Something that woud take care of them. For all my gifts and abilities (and I always have spoken frequently to Polaris, just not so much my guides), I felt alone. Not any more. Now we're buds. I know people who live their lives completely guided. And they have wonderful, meaningful lives. There's no shame in asking for help, not just once in awhile, but all the time. That's what it's there for. How I talk to my guides
I walk in the forest. There's a nature reserve not far from my home, incredibly green and lush with tall tall trees and ferns. The shade-loving spring flowers are blooming, and there are streams and fallen trees and it's so ... alive. I feel lucky to live near such an incredible place. (There's another forest in Vancouver city proper that has a time-travel portal, but that's another story.) I ride my bicycle. Repetitive physical movement (I'm Moving part of Emotional Center: "centering" is a Michael teachings term that has to do with how energy flows through you, and it's helpful to know how you process stuff) helps me get into that meditational space. I've always done my best thinking on my bike, and now it's a place to get guidance, too. In the shower. Try this: turn the water up a litle hotter, then sit down and let the water run over you. It's great in pitch darkness, but I usually look up at my skylight, which is just as nice. And there's meditation, of course, but usually I'm falling into some space-time continuum when I meditate, and when I come back I don't remember much. For me, moving and listening (or the sense of movement that the water provides) is best. Sure, you're thinking it's easy for me. I'm a channel. Of course I hear my guides. Yes, and I can block them out as easily as anyone. How to talk to your own guides
To start with, find a method of getting quiet (not "emptying the mind") that works for you. It might be meditation. It might be walking (that's a good one to try, actually). It might be writing. You can try them all. Ask a question, something simple, but not a yes-or-no question (those are harder, actually; they're too easy to second-guess). Something like, "What can I be doing right now to help support my life purpose?" And then LISTEN. Your answer might be a brief picture in your mind. It might be words. It might be a thought, or an idea. But the VERY FIRST THING that comes to you is your answer. Guaranteed. Learning trust in your answers
In fact, if you are not already talking regularly to your guides, that trust is really the only difference between you and me. Once you learn to start trusting what is already there for you, you can learn to expand on it. Ask more questions about it. Help give the picture, the thought, the idea more shape and form by following it as far as you can. Learning moreI help teach people how to connect to their guides and intuition. Not everyone's path is the same with this, but the basics I've already mentioned are pretty universal. If this is something you want more of in your life, I'd love to help you get there. One more thingSometimes guides tell you things that don't make sense at the time. For instance, tonight I was told I am going to Peru. In July. Great! I've been wanting to go for awhile, have been sensing it coming. There's something there I need to do. I still know absolutely no details, but I've learned that the details work themselves out on their own. I'm going to Peru. On a spiritual journey. In July. P.S. My fast for Darfur last week was completely guided. An amazing and powerful experience. Watch the video if you haven't already; we made that when I was really deep in it (the fast has since ended, but I'm grateful for and humbled by the experience).

Thanks for the tips! Somehow, I see a similarity here with prayer. Talking to your guides is a bit like praying

I talk to the Angels all the time in fact they are in charge of the site that I have. They give me what to say on the messages from the Angels, I just do the typing. My problem is I can ask for miracles for everyone and they happen rather quickly but for me it seems that they just don't happen. I can't figure out why. Am I missing something when it comes to what I need? I need to find a new place to live and for some reason I am stopped at every turn. Now if I asked for anyone else it would happen, but I am getting no where on this. It is really starting to bug me too and that is not good. If you could give me some idea I would really appreciate it.

It's an interesting topic. My dowsing system indicates I have four spirit guides working with me and four (sometimes more) spirit guardians. I have no proof of any of this but my dowsing efforts have been quite accurate in the past on verifiable matters so I'm inclined to at least be open to the possibility for now.
I embrace a life of daily miracles and I walk my spiritual truth in each moment. I've simply never tried to have a verbal conversation with any sort of consciousness (guides/guardians, etc.) up to this point. I'll stay tuned for more info on the concept of guides and so forth. written by AngelBaby, July 05, 2009
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I think you are right on and I am going to try this then I can change all of this for the better.

I have three ways of talking to my guides. At least three. They all involve getting my head out of the way and being in a semi-meditational space, and listening.
At first, you will be tempted to doubt this and move right past it (sometimes without even being aware you are doing this) to something else that makes "sense." It takes time to train yourself to go with what comes first, to trust it.

My advice to you s to connect with whatever "stories" you began telling yourself as a child, or hearing around you, that revolve around receiving for yourself, and start doing what it takes to decide if you can let go of them.
fwiw, I think they have SHOUTED at me on occasion. Before moving to Florida I had the distinct sense that I had karma to wrap up here. I’m keeping an eye out for it and, I think, I may have already found two instances—and I’ve lived here just over two years.
From your description, it sounds like you might be dropping into the instinctive center [repetitive motion, toileting activities]. Does that fit?
